What is relationship of mountains with isostasy?
I mean that is their any relationship of mountains with isostasy? I’ve heard that mountains help isostasy to balance the earth’s crust? Is this true? Thanks.
Isostasy is a principle in Geology; it has no “relationship” with mountains. Mountains do not “help isostasy to balance the earth’s crust”. Isostasy relate a Mountain to its roots: “high mountains have deep roots”. There is continuous subduction of oceanic crust into the mantle where higher pressures and temperatures make denser minerals From this crust. Neither mountains nor isostasy play a role to “balance” this crust, it is done by mineral reorganizations.
